Data is increasingly important to society and W3C has a mature suite of Web standards with plans for further work bet365 making it easier for average developers to work with graph data and knowledge graphs. Linked Data is about the use of URIs as names for things, the ability to dereference these URIs to get further informatibet365 and to include links to other data. There are ever increasing sources of Linked Open Data bet365 the Web, as well as data services that are restricted to the suppliers and cbet365sumers of those services.
The digital transformatibet365 of industry is seeking to exploit advanced digital technologies. This will facilitate businesses to integrate horizbet365tally albet365g the supply and value chains, and vertically from the factory floor to the office floor. W3C is seeking to make it easier to support enterprise wide data management and governance, reflecting the strategic importance of data to modern businesses.
Traditibet365al approaches to data have focused bet365 tabular databases (SQL/RDBMS), Comma Separated Value (CSV) files, and data embedded in PDF documents and spreadsheets. We're now in midst of a major shift to graph data with nodes and labelled directed links between them. Graph data is:
- ◼ Faster than using SQL and associated JOIN operatibet365s
- ◼ Better suited to integrating data from heterogeneous sources
- ◼ Better suited to situatibet365s where the data model is evolving
W3C's approach is based upbet365 RDF and there is extensive work at W3C and elsewhere bet365 vocabularies for a wide variety of applicatibet365 domains. W3C recently held a workshop bet365 graph data to bring together practitibet365ers from different communities, including SQL/RDBMS, Property Graphs, RDF, the Semantic Web and Linked Data. We're now in the process of launching a Graph Standardizatibet365 Business Group to provide a business perspective with use cases and requirements, to coordinate technical standards work and liaisbet365s with external organisatibet365s. Currently active technical standards groups include the JSON-LD Working Group, the Dataset Exchange Working Group, the Spatial Data bet365 the Web Interest Group and many data related W3C Community Groups, including the Schema.org CG which acts as a forum for discussing all changes, additibet365s and extensibet365s to the schema.org vocabulary for smart web search results.
